Sewing is a handicraft par excellence. The manufacture of clothing and textiles involves sewing fabrics and embroidering them using needles and other hand tools. However, advancements in technology have enabled professional tailors to develop the craft by using modern electrical machines to facilitate sewing and increase production.
The need for this craft is persistently high in any age. At present, the need for sewing has increased due to the increasing demand for a wide range of products, such as carpets, mattresses, curtains and majalis (s. majlis, sitting room furniture) of all kinds.
