It is a Prophetic prayer ground blessed with the virtue of precedence. It is the place where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed the first Friday prayer in Madinah after his emigration from Makkah. It is about 2,300 meters away from the Prophet’s Mosque.

An Overview:

When the Prophet (ﷺ) emigrated from Makkah, he stayed for a few days in Quba, then he proceeded to Madinah. It was the time for Jumah (Friday) prayer when he was in a valley close to his place of stay in Quba. Therefore, the Prophet (ﷺ) delivered a sermon and performed Jumah prayer together with those who were with him. It was the first Friday prayer performed by the Prophet (ﷺ) after his emigration to Madinah. The place was later called al- Jumah Mosque. During tenure of Omar bin Abdulaziz as governor of Madinah, he built a mosque in this place, which is approximately 600 meters away from Quba Mosque, and about 2,300 meters away from the Prophet’s Mosque.

Saudi Care for the Mosque:

In 1412 AH, during the reign of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the mosque was rebuilt, expanded, and fitted with the necessary facilities and services. It was reconstructed on a total area of ​​1,630 square meters. It consists of a prayer hall for men and another for women, accommodating over 650 worshipers. The mosque has a magnificent, slim minaret, a main dome in the middle, and four other small domes.

Visiting Hours:

The mosque is a historical landmark related to events in the Prophet’s emigration to Madinah and other aspects of his biography. It is one of the famous destinations of visitors of Madinah. It is open throughout the day. Obligatory prayers are held in the mosque.
