Allāh the Exalted says: Prepare whatever forces you [believers] can muster, including warhorses, to frighten off Allāh’s enemies and yours, and warn others unknown to you but known to Allāh. Whatever you give in Allāh’s cause will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged. [Qur’an 8:60]
Historic Overview:
Qubāʾ Fort stands in the Qubāʾ district, south of Madīnah, 100 meters west of the main road, 2.5 kilometers from the Prophet’s Masjid and 330 meters from Masjid Jumuʿah. Built on a high plateau of the western lava plain, it overlooks much of Qubāʾ. The Fort consists of three stone-built levels coated in white plaster, with a single main gate. Each level contains openings on all four sides for observation, protection, and defense.
Though its exact date is uncertain, it is believed to have been constructed between 1915 and 1918 during the First World War. It was built to guard the southern approaches of Madīnah against attack and was equipped with cannons and rifles, serving as a military garrison to protect the area. During the reign of King ‘Abdul’Azīz Āl Saʿūd, it continued as a strategic stronghold, while under King Faisal its hill was used to place the Ramaḍān cannon.
